Man did we have some good spicy spaghetti with garlic bread, wonderful tossed salad, and cake that floated on air. It took a little longer to eat than usual because most of us went back for seconds.
The nights topic was prayer. We started by reading the days reading in Seek God for the City. Then we read versus on
How often we should pray (Pray without ceasing I Thes. 5:17)
How we should pray (Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven Matt. 6:9-13),
What should we pray for ( My prayer to God for them is that they may be saved Rom. 10:1),
Who should we pray for (Pray for one another James 5:16). These are just parts of a few versus on the different aspects of prayer.
The challenge was to make praying an important part of our day and also to become personally involved with people in prayer. When we come to church be ready to ask others how we can pray for them. Up close and personal is a phrase you often hear used now days. It's how we should live our Christian lives instead of don't get to close and lets not get involved in other peoples lives and problems. Stand together with others and pray.
Corrie ten Boom once said."Don't pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it. A man is powerful on his knees."
Oswald Chambers said " We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties."
John Bunyan wrote " Prayer will make a man cease from sin, or sin will entice a man to cease from prayer."
