Wednesday night was all you can eat fried chicken. When you want to take the hungry out of eating you can't go wrong serving chicken dinner. So after dinner and dessert we were ready for Tom to once again unpack Galatians in chapter 4.
Paul uses family illustrations to show the Galatians that they have been set free from the law when they trusted Christ. He talks about children, mothers, their father, slaves and free, curses and promises.
One son of Abraham born of the flesh of the bondwoman (law) and the other son born of promise of the free woman (grace). In verse 31 Paul says to them ( and to us) We are not children of the bondwoman but of the free woman. The next verse says "It was for freedom that Christ set us free".
The Gospel is freely given and freely received.
Prayer requests this week:
Tom-that Justin will stay clean from drugs
Brian and Jenny- that Brian and the boys trip to DC will make a difference and for Jenny as she starts her treatments that God will give her the strength and peace she needs.
Youth retreat- that what is said and done will bear fruit long term
Young adults- bless them as they want to be more involved especially with Brian and Jenny
Mark- praise as mom is cleared to go back to work after her chemo
Help us all to walk in the freedom of the Spirit each day.
