A vision for your Marriage and your Family

Stan's wife Julie thought the men weren't getting enough to eat on Wednesday nights. Maybe Stan was coming home after our men's night and snacking on chips or checking out the left overs in the Fridge. Anyhow she made us a super size helping of spaghetti, a large green salad, and of course we had some fresh garlic bread and plenty of dessert. We were a little slow moving around after dinner.

We then moved into our lesson and the topic was having a vision for our marriage and family. Do you ever wonder why marriages and family's fall apart. According to the bible a lot of the make or break marriages and family dynamics start with the husband and father. Lets check out Ephesians.

Eph. 5:21-6:9
It says a Christian Man's responsibility is to put others first, and the other for the married man is his wife. Before your wife, you are to be humble, self-denying, a happy spiritual leader, and up-building.
If men practised this do you think it would make a difference?

One of the practical ways of living this out is to pray with your wife. Don't set yourself up to fail. Start slow and maybe just do a minute or two but start that pattern or habit and build on it. Another practical step we learned in our lesson involves setting goals for each other, their family and children, and even future generations.

Deuteronomy 6 gives us another practical step for building a strong family: talk about God together.

In  typical families some of the things that compete for our children's time are, School, Sports, Social, and Spiritual. The things that compete for our time are Work, Social affairs, and Spiritual/Character  development. Are we as a person or family balanced?
Pray that God will strengthen our marriage and our families.

Pray requests:
George-break the barrier and began praying with our wives
Allan- Forrest Kelly's healing for his heart attack and full time job for Mark
Steve-that Vera's memorial service will have an impact for eternity and that Robin will be blessed by.those who come.
