On Wednesday night Tom spoke on the story of Balaam and his talking donkey. It asks as many questions of who Balaam really was as it gave answers to what he did. Was he a pagan who knew who God was or did he know God but had a evil heart and influenced the Israelites to do evil?
One thing we do know is that Balaam had a donkey who God used to speak. God can and does make the impossible happen. Knowing this are we willing to let God use us and speak through us even though we may have the dumb donkey attitude of that we could never say that to them. Or if we do hear God urging us to say or do something for Him what are our hearts attitude when we do it.
Are my thoughts consistent with my actions? When I obey God am I doing it grudgingly or out of love for him?
It was a great lesson and caused us all to reflect on the intentions of our hearts.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart.
