Starting Galations

Wednesday night after chips, chicken and cream sauce with noodles, and of course some all american hot dogs with the trimmings, we got ready for our study. Just then in walked our friends from Freedom House ministries with Pastor Jim. We had a testimony from Jerry and some more sharing and then Pastor Bob spoke on the true gospel from Galations 1.

On one side you had teachers who were saying that performance mattered. That after trusting in Christ and His death you had certain things you needed to do to be acceptable to God.
On the other side was Paul who was stunned that they had turned away from faith in Christ alone. If it's effort on their part then it was no gospel at all.

People still struggle with boot strap Christianity. We like to pride ourselves on performance and Christian rules. Only in Christ alone is there real freedom. The gospel matters.

Two of the prayer requests were for
Sam who needs the gospel
and Jerry's brother who like Brian has ALS.

’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His word;
Just to rest upon His promise;
Just to know, Thus saith the Lord.
