Walking the Talk

This last Wednesday we had some awesome meatball subs. Seconds all around for everyone. Pineapple upside down cake with ice cream. It doesn't get any better than that. Then after dinner and some good visiting Hann Lee spoke to us about his good friend who had left a great job at HP to live in Asia and serve the Lord. A video he brought that his friend had made talked of pouring his life into several young Christian guys and helping them make a difference in their culture.

Hann mentioned how his friend had gone on short term missions for 10 years or so and then he stepped out into full time ministry in Asia. He left behind a high paying job to serve where his passion was in mentoring and disciplining others. One was a talented singer and Christian song writer. Another was running a half way house for addicts. During a question and answer time Hann said you wouldn't have picked his friend to be such a leader and passionate follower of God 20 years ago but that through his consistent and faithful walk God was using him in a mighty way in other cultures. He also mentioned how others who had been so fired up for God in College had faded away once they had left their environment of Christian friends.

Hann's story of his friend Doug was right in line with our stepping up series as men in mentoring others and and being intentional in serving God and surrounding ourselves with men who God is counting on to make a difference.

Intentional requests in our next 40 days of prayer:

Clear the way for us to serve
Mentor the youth next door-remove barriers
Open the doors for opportunities to serve and give us boldness
Bob to go to Africa
Funding for those who are planning to serve in other cultures from our church body
Help us to be consistent and intentional in serving the Lord
Give us courage to take the first steps.

Praying for others:

Hann's friend Doug in Asia
Allan-Granddaughter who is ill with a cold
Bill- friend Terry who just lost her job and has 2 daughters in school. Had a car repair bill.
Dave- friend Dan whose father has Alzheimer's
Steve-to be able to talk again to customer whose daughter attempted suicide again
