With daylight savings time in place we could now see the yard and flowers, cats and dogs and ducks, as we gathered for our Wednesday night study. A couple of dates had also transpired in the last week like the first day of spring and St. Patricks day. After we had consumed our delicious pulled pork sandwiches and Robert's old world potato salad from his grandmother's recipe, followed by Red Velvet cake, St. Paddy's Tres Leche and different flavors of ice cream, we turned our attention to another type of date.
The age of the earths dating game is something that is important to both the evolutionist and the creationist. You see for evolution to work as Tom pointed out the world has to be very very old. The common figure is 4 to 4.6 billion years old. It would take a long time to evolve from nothing into the complex and unique world we live in. The method used by evolution scientist for estimating the earths age is called Uranium-lead dating. Those believing in the Genesis record of creation believe the earth is much younger dating less than 10,000 years old. Join us next week on the dating game as Tom discusses fossils and dinosaurs in our series.
