The Life and Times of John Palm

This is a short bio of John Palm who will be our featured speaker at our next men's group on January 12th and the 19th, and his subject will be - how did we get the Bible - origin, preservation, and transmission of the the scriptures.

I was born and grew up in the Ballard area of Seattle, and attended college at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma.  While there I was active in campus Christian ministries and also worked in a Christian ministry in the North Cascades National Park during the summers.  After college I began studies at Western Seminary in Portland, where Nancy and I met as English and Education majors.  In 1979, during my last year at Western, we began worshiping at Brush Prairie as Nancy was teaching at the Brush Prairie Christian School. I taught  there from 1981 to 1986, and served as principal and teacher the last two of those years.  During the early 1980's we also worked with our BPBC high school youth group.  In 1991 I was elected to the church board, and served as the chairman for a decade.  After that I taught a Read through the Bible class for several years, and have served as an elder for the past five years.  Nancy and I have been married for 34 years, and our children are David (27), Marie (23), and Daniel (20).
